About Kapa’a Pediatrics
Kapa‘a Pediatrics is a community-focused pediatric practice serving families across the island of Kaua‘i. Owned and operated by two University of Hawai‘i, John A. Burns School of Medicine graduates, we provide patient-centered, evidence-based care in a supportive and collaborative environment. Our team is small, dedicated, and mission-driven. Every member plays a meaningful role in caring for our island’s keiki and families.
Clinic Assisstant
We are looking to hire another team member to work with our small pediatric group here in Kapa’a. Duties include both front (reception, billing) and back office (triage, nursing) responsibilities. Software Engineer
We are looking for a mission-driven Software Engineer to help build and maintain an AI-assisted pediatric triage and communication platform. You will work directly with our physician to refine, expand, and support a real clinical workflow tool already operating in early production.
This is a hands-on, full-stack engineering role for someone who wants to build across the stack, grow quickly, and shape a meaningful healthcare product from the ground up. You’ll collaborate directly with the founders and contribute to technical decisions as we improve and scale the system for everyday use in our clinic.
This position is ideal for someone with curiosity, initiative, and a passion for translating real-world clinical needs into reliable, safe software.
Responsibilities
Maintain and enhance our AI-assisted pediatric triage and messaging platform
Develop new features across the stack (frontend, backend, integrations)
Collaborate directly with physicians and staff to understand clinical workflows
Ensure reliability, accuracy, and safety in patient-facing tools (HIPAA-conscious development)
Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and support ongoing improvements
Build features that improve access, reduce burnout, and enhance communication for families
Required Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
Experience building software projects (school, personal, or professional)
Familiarity with modern web development concepts
Proficiency in at least one programming language (JavaScript/TypeScript or willingness to learn)
Ability to learn independently and solve technical problems
Strong communication skills and comfort working with non-technical staff
Commitment to building safe, reliable software for clinical use
Preferred (Nice-to-Have)
Experience with JavaScript or TypeScript
Experience with React, Node.js, or Firebase
Exposure to cloud platforms (Firebase, AWS, Vercel, etc.)
Interest in healthcare technology or clinical workflows
Experience integrating APIs or working with AI/LLM tools
Salary Range
Base Salary: $75,000 – $90,000
Flexible scheduling options:
4-day work week (32–36 hours)
Earlier or later start times
Some remote days after onboarding
